Lunches for Embry-Rucker shelter

November 7, 2017

This week the whole Newton School worked diligently to prepare over 180 lunches (including over 400 sandwiches!) for families in need in conjunction with the Cornerstones Embry Rucker Community Shelter. Many thanks to our Newton School families who provided food supplies, donations, and helping hands to make this effort possible! In addition to our students learning about the importance of helping the less fortunate, students put their math and logistic skills to the task in order to accomplish our triple digit goal! Students crafted masterful ham/turkey and cheese sandwiches along with side dishes and water refreshments! Overall the project was a huge success and we are very proud of our students and families who went above and beyond to help those in need!

Hurricane Harvey Relief

September 14, 2017

Our students and their families went into action to support the Houston residents who were impacted by Hurricane Harvey! Over the course of 5 days, we collected two full bus loads of supplies including 10 cases of water, tons of baby formula & diapers, mountains of paper products, a wheelchair and crutches, and tons of food! Our students also wrote letters of encouragement for those impacted as part of this service project. It is truly an example of what we can do when we all work together to help those in need. Thank you for your generous donations and WAY TO GO!!

Students, parents, and teachers bid a fond farewell to four of our fantastic students this week as our 8th graders – Jake, Jonathan, Kendall, and Olivia – took the final step in their Newton School careers during an emotional and spectacular graduation ceremony! All four are eager and excited to continue their education in high school and journey toward adulthood using many of the lessons learned at the Newton School! As part of the ceremony, Jake presented a speech about his time at Newton, Olivia and Kendall performed a duet, and Jonathan played a beautiful and outstanding piano piece!
