Natural History Museum

Our fifth and sixth grade students ventured to the Smithsonian Natural History Museum to learn all about geology and the wider world around us! Adorning their detective hats, our students tested all the clues to classify 5 different minerals into categories such as luster, hardness and color. Following our activity we had the pleasure of surveying the various exhibit halls, such as the new Fossil exhibit, the massive Ocean Life section and the fascinating displays about human origin. After learning about the biological wonders of our world, the students stood in awe of the Hope Diamond! We finished our fantastic field trip with a journey through the butterfly Garden, where we made friends with a gorgeous variety of rare and exotic butterflies! It was a fantastic trip and many of our students look forward to checking out more exhibits on a return trip with their families!
