The students in grades 5-8 participated in a community service project this week in support of the Cornerstones Embry Rucker Shelter in Reston. The group worked hard to make 120 lunches – including 240 delicious looking sandwiches – to provide to the families in the shelter. We also decorated the lunch bags with positive messages and packed them with applesauce, granola bars, napkins, spoons and water. We watched a video on the impact of doing kind deeds for others, and each student wrote out on a note card what they were going to do for others that day. Hopefully, a little practice goes a long way towards helping others in need.
